Notifications

Stay on top of your schedule with timely reminders, overdue alerts, and team updates — configured exactly how you want them.

Notification Types

Task Reminders

Sent before a task is due. You can set a reminder at the task level (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day before the due date) or configure a default reminder time in Settings.

Overdue Alerts

Sent when a task passes its due date without being completed. Chronos checks for overdue tasks daily and sends a digest listing everything that needs attention.

Schedule Changes

Sent when the AI reschedules one of your tasks — for example, after a calendar conflict is detected. The notification shows the old and new scheduled times.

Team Updates

Sent when a team member assigns a task to you, mentions you in a comment, or completes a task you're watching. Available on Teams plan.

Daily Brief

An optional morning summary of your day — scheduled tasks, upcoming deadlines, and suggested priorities. Configure the delivery time in Daily Brief settings.

Push Notifications

Chronos supports browser push notifications so you receive alerts even when the app isn't open in your browser.

Enabling Push Notifications

  1. Go to Settings › Notifications
  2. Click Enable Push Notifications
  3. When your browser asks for permission, click Allow
  4. Push notifications are now active for this browser and device

Tip: Push notification permission is per-browser. If you use Chronos on multiple devices, enable notifications on each one separately.

Managing Notification Preferences

Fine-tune which notifications you receive in Settings › Notifications. You can control:

  • Notification channels: Toggle push notifications and in-app alerts independently
  • Default reminder time: Set how far in advance reminders fire for new tasks (e.g., 1 hour before due date)
  • Overdue digest: Enable or disable the daily overdue summary, and choose what time it arrives
  • Quiet hours: Set a time window (e.g., 10 pm–7 am) when notifications are silenced
  • Team notifications: Choose which team events trigger alerts (assignments, mentions, task completions)
Tips for staying on top of notifications:
  • Use quiet hours to avoid interruptions outside work time
  • If you're getting too many alerts, start by disabling schedule-change notifications — they're informational, not urgent
  • Set your overdue digest to arrive at the start of your workday so you can plan around it
  • Per-task reminders override the default; useful for especially important deadlines
