Chat is available on the Teams plan. Upgrade in Settings › Billing to unlock this feature.

What Is Chat?

Chat lets you and your team exchange messages directly inside Chronos. You can create conversations around specific projects or tasks, keeping context in one place rather than scattered across email or external messaging tools.

Starting a Conversation

  1. Open Chat from the sidebar

Select Chat from the left navigation. All your conversations are listed here.

  2. Create a new conversation

Click New Conversation and choose one or more teammates to include.

  3. Name the conversation (optional)

For group conversations, add a name such as “Website Redesign” or “Sprint Planning” to make it easy to find.

  4. Start messaging

Type your message and press Enter to send. Messages are delivered instantly to all participants.

Project & Task Conversations

Linking a conversation to a project

When creating a conversation, select a project to link it to. The conversation then appears in the project's Chat tab so all project members can follow along without being individually added.

Messaging from a task

Open any task and switch to the Comments tab to leave a note or @mention a teammate. Task comments are separate from general chat conversations and stay attached to the task for context.

Notifications

You receive a notification when:

  • Someone sends a message in a conversation you belong to
  • A teammate @mentions you in a message or task comment
  • A new message arrives in a project conversation you are part of

Manage your chat notification preferences in Settings › Notifications.

Tip: Use task comments for feedback on specific work and Chat for broader team discussions. Keeping these separate makes it easier to find context later — task history stays on the task, team decisions stay in Chat.
