Client Portal

Give clients a dedicated, branded view of their project — with live progress, task status, and a space for feedback.

The Client Portal is available on the Teams plan. Upgrade in Settings › Billing to unlock this feature.

What Is the Client Portal?

The Client Portal is a persistent, password-protected page you share with a client to keep them informed throughout a project. Unlike a one-off Shared Link, the portal stays live for the duration of the engagement and reflects the latest project state automatically — no need to re-share every time something changes.

Setting Up a Client Portal

  1. Open the project

Navigate to the project you want to share with a client.

  2. Enable the Client Portal

Click the Client Portal tab within the project, then click Enable Portal.

  3. Customise the portal

Add a logo, choose which sections are visible (task list, timeline, milestones, files), and set a welcome message for your client.

  4. Set a password (optional)

Protect the portal with a password so only the intended client can access it.

  5. Share the portal URL

Copy the portal link and send it to your client. They can bookmark it and return any time to check progress.

What Clients See

Visible to clients

  • Project name, description, and overall progress
  • Task list with status (to do, in progress, done)
  • Milestones and due dates
  • Files and deliverables you have shared
  • A comments section for feedback

Hidden from clients

  • Internal notes and private tasks
  • Your calendar and availability
  • Other projects or clients in your account
  • Time tracking and billable hour data (unless shared)

Client Feedback

Clients can leave comments directly in the portal without creating an account. Comments appear in the project's activity feed so your team sees them alongside other updates. Reply to client comments from within Chronos — your replies are visible in the portal immediately.

Tip:Keep internal tasks private by marking them as such before enabling the portal. Only tasks without the “Private” flag are visible to clients — you stay in full control of what they see.
