Shared Links

Generate a guest access link to share a task or project with anyone — no account required.

Shared Links are available on the Shared plan and above. Upgrade in Settings › Billing to unlock this feature.

What Are Shared Links?

Shared Links give external viewers — clients, stakeholders, or collaborators — a read-only window into a specific task or project without needing a Chronos account. The link recipient sees the current state of the task or project and can leave comments, but cannot edit or delete anything.

Creating a Shared Link

  1. Open the task or project you want to share

Navigate to the task detail panel or the project page.

  2. Click Share

Find the Share button (link icon) in the top-right of the panel or page.

  3. Configure link settings

Set an optional expiry date and choose whether viewers can leave comments.

  4. Copy and share the link

Click Generate Link then copy it to your clipboard. Paste it into an email, message, or document.

Link Permissions

What viewers can do

  • View task details, subtasks, and attachments
  • See project tasks, status, and timeline
  • Leave comments (if enabled)

What viewers cannot do

  • Edit or delete tasks
  • Access other tasks or projects in your account
  • See your calendar or availability
  • Manage the link itself

Managing & Revoking Links

View all active shared links in Settings › Shared Links. From there you can:

  • Revoke a link — immediately invalidates the URL so existing recipients can no longer access it.
  • Extend expiry — push the expiry date forward without generating a new link.
  • Copy existing link — retrieve the URL again if you need to re-share it.
Tip: Set an expiry date on client-facing links so they automatically stop working after the project wraps up — no need to remember to revoke them manually. For ongoing client relationships, consider the Client Portal for a more permanent, branded view.
